Here is a short description of my 1978 Peugeot 604 SL's engine bay restoration.
My mechanic for that operation was Tim Stanton of Fixations in Christchurch (New Zealand). He has spent some 300 hours on the car between April and September 2001, not to count the time spent on the car by contractors like electricians, painters, engineers, brake specialists, etc., etc.
I supplied Tim with the original parts manual as well as the description of the PRV engine by one of its very conceptors Francois Gastinne. I also gave him about 100kg of various brand new spare parts that I had managed to trace all over the world (USA, Germany, UK, France, New Zealand).
Here are some shots of the engine bay before the restoration (click on the thumbnails and this will open a larger picture in a new window.). Not a bad base, as you can see.
The engine bay has first been emptied, soda blasted and repainted.
